Chapter 27

1

[A Psalm] of David.
The LORD [is] my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear?4 the LORD [is] the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?4

2

When the wicked,56 [even] mine enemies and my foes,6 came2 upon me to eat up2 my flesh, they stumbled1 and fell.1

3

Though an host should encamp4 against me, my heart shall not fear:4 though war should rise4 against me, in this [will] I [be] confident.6

4

One [thing] have I desired1 of the LORD, that will I seek17 after; that I may dwell2 in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold2 the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire15 in his temple.

5

For in the time of trouble he shall hide4 me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide55 me; he shall set me up34 upon a rock.

6

And now shall mine head be lifted up4 above mine enemies6 round about me: therefore will I offer4 in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing,4 yea, I will sing praises17 unto the LORD.

7

Hear,3 O LORD, [when] I cry4 with my voice: have mercy3 also upon me, and answer3 me.

8

[When thou saidst], Seek16 ye my face; my heart said1 unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.17

9

Hide55 not thy face [far] from me; put not thy servant away55 in anger: thou hast been my help; leave4 me not, neither forsake4 me, O God of my salvation.

10

When my father and my mother forsake1 me, then the LORD will take me up.4

11

Teach54 me thy way, O LORD, and lead3 me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.6

12

Deliver4 me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up1 against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

13

[I had fainted], unless I had believed52 to see2 the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

14

Wait16 on the LORD: be of good courage,3 and he shall strengthen55 thine heart: wait,16 I say, on the LORD.
