Job 39 | King James Bible |
Chapter 40 | |
| |
| Shall he that contendeth2 with the Almighty instruct [him]? he that reproveth56 God, let him answer4 it. |
| |
| Behold, I am vile;1 what shall I answer55 thee? I will lay1 mine hand upon my mouth. |
| Once have I spoken;14 but I will not answer:4 yea, twice; but I will proceed no further.55 |
| Then answered4 the LORD unto Job out of the whirlwind, and said,4 |
| Gird up3 thy loins now like a man: I will demand4 of thee, and declare54 thou unto me. |
| Wilt thou also disannul55 my judgment? wilt thou condemn55 me, that thou mayest be righteous?4 |
| Hast thou an arm like God? or canst thou thunder55 with a voice like him? |
| Deck3 thyself now [with] majesty and excellency; and array4 thyself with glory and beauty. |
| Cast abroad54 the rage of thy wrath: and behold3 every one [that is] proud, and abase54 him. |
| Look3 on every one [that is] proud, [and] bring him low;54 and tread down3 the wicked in their place. |
| Hide3 them in the dust together; [and] bind3 their faces in secret.7 |
| Then will I also confess55 unto thee that thine own right hand can save55 thee. |
| Behold now behemoth, which I made1 with thee; he eateth4 grass as an ox. |
| Lo now, his strength [is] in his loins, and his force [is] in the navel of his belly. |
| He moveth4 his tail like a cedar: the sinews of his stones are wrapped together.29 |
| His bones [are as] strong pieces of brass; his bones [are] like bars of iron. |
| He [is] the chief of the ways of God: he that made6 him can make his sword to approach55 [unto him]. |
| Surely the mountains bring him forth4 food, where all the beasts of the field play.17 |
| He lieth4 under the shady trees, in the covert of the reed, and fens. |
| The shady trees cover4 him [with] their shadow; the willows of the brook compass him about.4 |
| Behold, he drinketh up4 a river, [and] hasteth4 not: he trusteth4 that he can draw up4 Jordan into his mouth. |
| He taketh4 it with his eyes: [his] nose pierceth4 through snares. |
