Chapter 50

A Psalm of Asaph.
The mighty God, [even] the LORD, hath spoken,¹⁴ and called⁴ the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof.

Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined.⁵²

Our God shall come,⁴ and shall not keep silence:⁴ a fire shall devour⁴ before him, and it shall be very tempestuous⁸ round about him.

He shall call⁴ to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge² his people.

Gather³ my saints together unto me; those that have made⁶ a covenant with me by sacrifice.

And the heavens shall declare⁵⁵ his righteousness: for God [is] judge⁶ himself. Selah.

Hear,³ O my people, and I will speak;¹⁷ O Israel, and I will testify⁵⁵ against thee: I [am] God, [even] thy God.

I will not reprove⁵⁵ thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, [to have been] continually before me.

I will take⁴ no bullock out of thy house, [nor] he goats out of thy folds.

For every beast of the forest [is] mine, [and] the cattle upon a thousand hills.

I know¹ all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild beasts of the field [are] mine.

If I were hungry,⁴ I would not tell⁴ thee: for the world [is] mine, and the fulness thereof.

Will I eat⁴ the flesh of bulls, or drink⁴ the blood of goats?

Offer³ unto God thanksgiving; and pay¹⁶ thy vows unto the most High:

And call³ upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver¹⁷ thee, and thou shalt glorify¹⁷ me.

But unto the wicked God saith,¹ What hast thou to do to declare¹⁵ my statutes, or [that] thou shouldest take⁴ my covenant in thy mouth?

Seeing thou hatest¹ instruction, and castest⁵⁵ my words behind thee.

When thou sawest¹ a thief, then thou consentedst⁴ with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers.¹⁸

Thou givest¹ thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth⁵⁵ deceit.

Thou sittest⁴ [and] speakest¹⁷ against thy brother; thou⁴ slanderest thine own mother's son.

These [things] hast thou done,¹ and I kept silence;⁵² thou thoughtest¹⁴ that I was altogether² [such an one] as thyself: [but] I will reprove⁵⁵ thee, and set [them] in order⁴ before thine eyes.

Now consider³ this, ye that forget⁶ God, lest I tear [you] in pieces,⁴ and [there be] none to deliver.⁵⁶

Whoso offereth⁶ praise glorifieth¹⁷ me: and to him that ordereth¹ [his] conversation [aright] will I shew⁵⁵ the salvation of God.
