Chapter 52

To the chief Musician,¹⁸ Maschil, ^{7919 56} [A Psalm] of David, when Doeg the Edomite came² and told⁵⁵ Saul, and said⁴ unto him, David is come¹ to the house of Ahimelech.
Why boastest¹⁰¹ thou thyself in mischief, O mighty man? the goodness of God [endureth] continually. ³¹¹⁷

Thy tongue deviseth⁴ mischiefs; like a sharp³⁰ razor, working⁶ deceitfully.

Thou lovest¹ evil more than good; [and] lying rather than to speak¹⁵ righteousness. Selah.

Thou lovest¹ all devouring words, O [thou] deceitful tongue.

God shall likewise destroy⁴ thee for ever, he shall take thee away,⁴ and pluck thee⁴ out of [thy] dwelling place, and root thee out¹⁴ of the land of the living. Selah.

The righteous also shall see,⁴ and fear,⁴ and shall laugh⁴ at him:

Lo, [this is] the man [that] made⁴ not God his strength; but trusted⁴ in the abundance of his riches, [and] strengthened⁴ himself in his wickedness.

But I [am] like a green olive tree in the house of God: I trust¹ in the mercy of God for ever and ever.

I will praise⁵⁵ thee for ever, because thou hast done¹ [it]: and I will wait¹⁷ on thy name; for [it is] good before thy saints.
