Isaiah 46 | King James Bible |
Chapter 47 | |
| Come down,3 and sit3 in the dust, O virgin daughter of Babylon, sit3 on the ground: [there is] no throne, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more55 be called4 tender and delicate. |
| Take3 the millstones, and grind3 meal: uncover16 thy locks, make bare3 the leg, uncover16 the thigh, pass3 over the rivers. |
| Thy nakedness shall be uncovered,11 yea, thy shame shall be seen:11 I will take4 vengeance, and I will not meet4 [thee as] a man. |
| [As for] our redeemer,6 the LORD of hosts [is] his name, the Holy One of Israel. |
| Sit3 thou silent, and get3 thee into darkness, O daughter of the Chaldeans: for thou shalt no more55 be called,4 The lady of kingdoms. |
| I was wroth1 with my people, I have polluted14 mine inheritance, and given4 them into thine hand: thou didst shew1 them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid52 thy yoke. |
| And thou saidst,4 I shall be a lady for ever: [so] that thou didst not lay1 these [things] to thy heart, neither didst remember1 the latter end of it. |
| Therefore hear3 now this, [thou that art] given to pleasures, that dwellest6 carelessly, that sayest6 in thine heart, I [am], and none else beside me; I shall not sit4 [as] a widow, neither shall I know4 the loss of children: |
| But these two [things] shall come4 to thee in a moment in one day, the loss of children, and widowhood: they shall come1 upon thee in their perfection for the multitude of thy sorceries, [and] for the great abundance of thine enchantments. |
| For thou hast trusted4 in thy wickedness: thou hast said,1 None seeth6 me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted31 thee; and thou hast said4 in thine heart, I [am], and none else beside me. |
| Therefore shall evil come1 upon thee; thou shalt not know4 from whence it riseth: and mischief shall fall4 upon thee; thou shalt not be able4 to put it off:15 and desolation shall come4 upon thee suddenly, [which] thou shalt not know.4 |
| Stand3 now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured1 from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able4 to profit,53 if so be thou mayest prevail.4 |
| Thou art wearied8 in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers,6 8064 the stargazers, 3556 the monthly prognosticators,56 stand up,4 and save55 thee from [these things] that shall come4 upon thee. |
| Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn1 them; they shall not deliver55 themselves from the power of the flame: [there shall] not [be] a coal to warm2 at, [nor] fire to sit2 before it. |
| Thus shall they be unto thee with whom thou hast laboured,1 [even] thy merchants,6 from thy youth: they shall wander1 every one to his quarter; none shall save56 thee. |
